Section 8 Company
Under the Companies Act, 2013, or previously known as the Companies Act, 1956, a Section 8 company registration is a type of organization that is established with the primary objective of promoting fine arts, science, literature, knowledge sharing, or engaging in charitable activities. These companies, also referred to as Section 25 companies under the old Companies Act, are subject to regulation through the Companies Act, 2013.
Section 8 companies are a category of limited companies formed under this specific act, and the government bestows them with an exclusive license under the Section 8 Companies Act. To obtain this license, there are three main conditions that these companies must fulfill.
- The company should be registered for charitable purposes
- Income and profits should be used towards these objects
- The company should not pay any dividend to its members.
